Dutch DPM Cold Weather Parka
When it comes to surplus you'll often find the parkas of any given military are usually their most well-thought-out pieces, and for the Dutch Koninklijke Landmacht that's no exception.
The Dutch cold weather parka takes a classic 4-pocket parka design up a few notches with great features you don't often see on many surplus jackets. It's main party piece is the included button-in plush fleece liner plus a wet weather liner — an incredibly luxurious surprise in a rugged jacket like this.
Like many other Dutch pieces, they really seem to enjoy using snap closures, and you'll see those present on all the pockets, main storm flap, and wrist cuffs. And like other popular surplus parkas, you'll find an adjustable waist & hem cord with cord-locks to refine the size.
The wrist of each liner features an elastic cuff hidden underneath the exterior fabric which comes in handy when layering winter gloves, and other small touches like the reinforced elbow patches & cigarette pocket on the shoulder are a welcome addition.
Although it's hard not to credit the British for the DPM smock that inspired this, we still really like this Dutch interpretation.
